Calcium Carbonate Biodegradable Plastic Masterbatch is a functional masterbatch developed to solve problems of traditional biodegradable plastics such as insufficient rigidity, poor scratch resistance, high cost, and uneven dispersion of ordinary calcium carbonate causing rough surfaces. These traditional biodegradable plastics include PBAT/PLA products and PHA products. It focuses on endowing products with excellent rigidity, scratch resistance and cost advantages while preserving the biodegradability and processability of biodegradable plastics, providing customized solutions for disposable tableware, agricultural mulch films and packaging pallets. It uses compatible PBAT resin as carrier with a melt flow rate of 1.5-3.0g/10min, ensuring over 96% compatibility with various biodegradable plastic substrates (pure PBAT, PBAT/PLA blends, PHA resins) to avoid calcium carbonate agglomeration or surface defects, while maintaining the substrate’s biodegradation rate (≥90% degradation in 6 months under composting conditions).
Its core components include modified calcium carbonate: nano-sized activated calcium carbonate treated with stearic acid, with particle size 50-200nm and addition amount 40%-60%, which boosts flexural modulus to 1800-2500MPa, improves scratch resistance by 30%-40% and reduces cost by 15%-25%; compatibility additives: maleic anhydride grafted PBAT with addition amount 4%-8%, maintaining ≥85% elongation at break; and processing modifiers: blended PE wax and silicone resin with addition amount 2%-5%, increasing melt flow rate by 10%-15%. Via twin-screw mixing at 120-140℃, calcium carbonate dispersion uniformity reaches ≥97% with melt flow fluctuation ≤4%.
The masterbatch combines excellent mechanical enhancement and cost optimization with strong processing adaptability. Stable at -30℃-65℃, it works at 120-165℃ with adjustable addition 10%-50%, preserving ≥85% elongation and meeting GB 4806.7-2016 food contact standards. It fits PBAT/PLA calcium carbonate-reinforced tableware (rigid), calcium carbonate-filled agricultural mulch films (soil-fertilizing), PHA packaging pallets (load-bearing), and daily necessities (scratch-resistant), reducing environmental pollution and production cost.
